You Wore It Best

Gone are the days of wanting to look like everyone else on the street. Am I right? Is there anything worse than walking into a room only to find another is rocking your look? Well, I can’t think of anything worse either. Lucky for you I have pinpointed some of the hottest trends to incorporate into your wardrobe. Ensuring you end up on the right side of who wore it best...

Take any black dress. We all have one. Now picture this... long lean legs… Sounds nice right? Well unfortunately we weren’t all blessed with them. No need to worry though. Throw on a pair of Winger nude Sergio Zelcer heels, the next generation of their best selling patent platform. I know I have said this before, but nude heels really make a difference. When these shoes arrived I literally had to fend off my sisters from them. Soft creamy leather shoes with patent leather heel and red soles finish off the look. (See photo) So although you can’t yet afford the original red sole shoe, act as if you can. We promise not to tell.

Nothing sets a gal apart more than some fine accessorizes. So, next up on our radar? High fashion head gear and bold baubles. Take the star studded stretch spandex headband by Gold Saturn. Demure enough for the refined lady, but edgy enough to wear with your favorite leather jacket. But if headbands aren’t your fashion forte, pile on pieces by Pono. Handmade accessories straight from Italy. Light as a feather and square shaped these resin pieces pack a powerful punch. In scrumptous colors like coco, lemon, pumpkin and mushroom these bracelets are deliciously decadent.

Dana

Safe & Stylish Travels

The holidays are around the corner which means a lot of travel to see family and friends. We have some trips planned and we're sure you do too. But, just because you're on the move, doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice your look. We are wearing the Funk top by Fluxus for long car rides and plane trips. This top is just as comfortable as it is stylish with cuffed sleeves and a rolled round neckline. Paired with leggings we already own, it's an outfit any fashionista would be proud to wear.
Speaking of plane trips, we can’t leave home without our PLANE TO SEE bag. We 've been using these for years and now we can share it with all of you! Made of regulation sized clear plastic, this bag will make traveling easy. Throw this in your Jessica Kagan Cushman tote and your airport security run will be smoother than ever. Last we suggest a scarf to keep you warm and cozy while in transit. Try a YARNZ cashmere blend scarf worn as intended or use it as a blanket while you doze off. What gal doesnt like to snooze in style?

Safe travels!

It's Trend Time

Most girls, like myself can attest, all trends are not created equally or for everyone. No matter how we may wish they could be. Skinny jeans aren’t for all body types and pointy toed shoes don’t necessarily excite the masses. So it goes each year, one must learn to scour the market, analyze the new, and decide… this trend is mine. As a self proclaimed fashion obsessed individual, I love to follow trends. Whether I decide to rock them or not is another story. But in the midst of the military craze, the plaids, and layer upon layer of neutrals, I have my sights set on a few trends I intend to embrace.

Seen on the head of Kourtney Kardashian, and the must have list of Rachel Zoe, I too am smitten with these uber chic turbans. I am talking about Gold Saturn headwear by the young designer, David Acosta. Picture this head wrap on a windy day at the beach or as that perfect ear cover on a chilly day in the city. Either way this trend is a true statement piece I will make all my own!
Next on my hit list are fingerless gloves. I mentioned recently my move from New York to Florida. Well I suppose this trend is my way of holding on to the weather I left behind. Crocheted tubes by Yarnz are 100% cashmere and deliciously soft. Picture wrapping your hands in your favorite cashmere scarf. I love them in navy, worn with denim. Best part, they are light enough to wear throughout the entire evening. Therefore, not only warming your hands, but creating an unexpectedness that even the most bold statement necklace cannot.
My advice is… Make your move. Pick a trend. Wear it your way and remember enjoy them while they’re here cause nothing lasts forever.

Fall Favorites

It is undeniable that Fall is officially in full swing! I love how the weather is starting to cool off a bit, even if it’s only by a few degrees. It still means it's time to break out fall fashions. So although my new found Floridian status has left me yearning for the cooler days in NYC, I have found a way to embrace fall in my own way.

On top-I am wearing grey hued tops by Kain Label and LnA- Light weight by fall standards, but the shades of grey remind me what time of year it is.

Instead of boots- I am wearing the Wymer black and nude patent pump by Sergio Zelcer- It's the ideal transition from summer nude to winter black just don’t be fooled by the low price point these shoes demand any fashionista’s respect.

For my nails- I am wearing Shellac- It's the first hybrid nail color that is applied like polish. It wears flawlessly for 14 days with a high gloss shine. Not only does it last for what seems like forever, it allows you to leave the salon knowing you can’t possibly mess up your perfect mani.

I may have left chilly weather behind, but embracing new trends and colors will always be part of my fall tradition.

Viva Las Vegas

The days of summer are over which means we are all resuming our busy schedules. Sara has returned to the class room, Anna is back to her studies, Leah is honing her culinary skills, and I am maintaining the business. But before being forced back into the grind... we got together for one last rendezvous. And there was no better place to kick back and enjoy the final days of summer than Las Vegas!
This weekend we found ourselves looking for a night on the town, a day by the pool, and of course some quality family time. This can only mean one thing… many many cute outfits! And so I broke down our wardrobe essentials for a 4 day jaunt to Sin City. Here they are…

For our feet Sara, Anna, and I all found comfort in our Sergio Zelcer heels. Sara and I opted for nude patent pumps while Anna wore a black patent basket weave pair.

For day, Anna and Leah wore Mink Pink minis. Leah rocked the 4th of July dress and Anna shopped in the Parent Trap dress, both ideal with 100+ degree heat.

For night Anna chose to wear a body hugging ruched dress by Frenzii, while Leah accessorized with a JJ Winters chain purse.

For the cross country plane ride home I paired Charlie 5.0 jeggings with Capote's super soft boat neck top.
Our weekend was a blast... and we hope yours was too!

Going Gray

Going gray this season isn’t in reference to ones roots, but rather ones wardrobe. Gray is everywhere this fall, from nail polish to denim to our favorite leather accessories. It is the perfect transition from summer whites to winter blacks. Some of our most loved fashionistas like Kim Kardashian have already begun to embrace the trend on their nails and in their clothes! For nails we suggest OPI Sheer Your Toys.We love how it matches everything that already hangs in our closet. This hue looks chic even in the most basic of fabrics as seen here in this cotton ¾ sleeve dress by Olga De Polga. Not ready to wear it all over just yet? Try this studded multi wrap belt from Vita Fede over a basic black or neutral dress. If you  already own a some gray try incorporating a pop of color and don't be afraid
to mix textures.

Retail Revelation

Florida and New York share many things… sizzling night life, fabulous restaurants, and beautiful people. However, when it comes to dressing, the fashion needs really differ. Since relocating to Florida about a month of ago I realized my daily wardrobe had taken a 180 degree turn. Yes, it is summer and you could argue that it is unseasonably warm in Manhattan, so how different could the dress be... but this revelation was about something else. It was about the clothes I had bought then and what I needed now. Yesterday I browsed the shelves of one of my favorite shoe stores and instantly reached for te over the knee suede boots. Why these shoes were being sold in 100 degree weather I cannot tell you, but what I did know was that these boots were an investment I no longer needed to make. I began reminiscing about the past five years living in Manhattan, stocking my closet with delicious leather jackets, wolford tights, cashmere sweaters and a collection of winter coats. I realized that these garments were now taking a back seat to my denim shorts and gladiator sandals. Change in climate meant two things; I needed new clothes and I needed to work on my South Florida style.

Now, living in New York was eye opening for me. My time there introduced me to the beauty of being unique, dressing for every occasion and experimenting with my own personal style. That being said, I am ready to bring that education to my new life down south. Below are some of my new favorite go to pieces.

-Denim Button Downs- Out side jackets are not required, but it does get awfully cold in the air conditioning. I wear my denim button down shirts as jackets. They are great over dresses and match everything. I also love to throw them in my carry on when I am traveling. They fold up smaller then a jacket and weigh a lot less in my usually over stuffed bag! Shop Denim Button Downs
-Headbands- Headbands are hot and everyone is rocking them, but I have never thought of them as a day time look. However, when I want to rock a pony-tail in the daytime heat, a headband is the perfect addition! This style is great because it gives me the opportunity to show off a great accessory that usually gets lost in my curls. Shop Headbands

-Breathable flats aka Soludos- I can not stress the importance of a good flat! These are the perfect summer shoe as well as an alternative to flip flops. From the city to the beach they are a go-to for optimal support, comfort and versatility... Not to mention they retail for under $30!! These shoes are also getting some serious press with reason. They have been featured in Harpers Bazaar, US Weekly and Daily Candy. Shop Soludos

Dress to Impress

Dresses are fun, easy and make a lot of sense with this heat. So it is no surprise that my sisters and I are all about rocking Summer’s hottest frocks. My personal favorite right now is the long tribal print maxi dress by Torn by Ronny Kobo. Its light weight, has a ton of color and hugs my curves in the right places. Worn with heals or gladiator flats this dress is perfect for dining out on a warm summer evening in South Beach. But, if I need a dress to take from work to play, which is often I then reach for shorter style like one of these by Rachel Pally and Fighting Eel. These dresses are easy to accessorize and keep you looking cool when the thermometer tops 100 degrees. No matter my pick I am all about the nude heals. I suggest the Winger patent leather nude platform pump by Sergio Zelcer! These sexy shoes are all leather, hand made in Brazil they add inches to your stems. Be sure to pack these pumps on your next vacay they will match with everything!

These are a few of my favorite things

Every girl has her crushes... and I am not talking about boys. I'm referring to those seemingly "necessary" objects that you crave. The "I need it" nail polish, lip gloss, flat iron, or those awesome new jeans. What's currently strong on my list now is as follows:

Essie nail polish in Lilacism, part of the Essie Art of Spring Collection is just divine on the pages of Elle. Imagine my surprise when I stepped into the nail salon and there it was. No longer forced to pick a dark hue that I already held in my hand, I gently put down the old and reached for the new, Lilacism. So for now I am totally in lust! This fabulously fun shade of lilac has a matte finish and looks totally chic. I was receiving compliments within minutes of sporting it and you will too!

TwoSome rings by Erica Anenberg. One ring that sits on two fingers. A truly unique way to "put a ring on it" and showcase your individuality. Designed in California and representative of West Coast laid back style these rocker rings are a sure way to get some attention! Both fashionable friend and foe are sure to have a bit of ring envy.

Jeggings, yes jeggings and if you haven't jumped on board with these yet, you are really missing out. Always a bit shy, I was unwilling to succumb to the super stretchy denim pant, until my mom gifted them to me. I am now a huge fan. They fit like a glove, but unlike other snug denim that often cut into you in all the wrong places, these are soft with give in all the right places. Currently I am clothed in Blank NYC black stretch with studs. Also available dark blue and black jeggings with strategically placed back pockets.
These are just a few of my favorite things...

*TwoSome Rings and Blank NYC Jeggings currently available at 4Sisters1Closet!

Hot Mama Fashion Drama

I was recently sent this email from a very old friend. As usually I was thrilled to share some of my fashion advice. The email read as follows.

D-

Since you are now the style person.... I have a question.....

Is white OK to wear in March down in FL. I feel like it's not ok up
here...but I kind of feel like white is always ok down there. Like a
white denim pant or something.

I currently own nothing that fits me...it's all too big for a
change...so I have to do some serious shopping before I come down
there in March. I have a few top options that may work...but really
need bottoms. Just trying to build outfits and not just buy a million things that
don't work together!

I'm not a huge dress person, but I'm going to see what I can find. I
just don't have too much time to spend shopping these days with my
crazy girls. Also, you thinking maxi dresses will still be in this year? Or out?

Had a cute one I could bring the wedding weekend. I feel like Florida
just seems to have thier own set of rules, you know!?!?!?

Let me know what you think fashionista.

-A

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A,

Thank you for consulting me for a fashion update. I know you are a busy mama and while you may have fashion on the brain, it doesn't seem to fit into your schedule. Here are a few tips to help make your shopping experience a bit more enjoyable.

As much as I love white pants on a skinny gal, that look should be saved for summer. I think it could brand you a bit touristy if you wear a pair in March. May I suggest a skinny denim. Something stretchy that hits right at the ankle. This way, you can show off a cute pair of sandals or ballet flats. My favorite pair of skinny jeans right now is J-Brand. They are affordable and have an awesome fit. If you want something lighter, they have a ton of different denim shades. Save your white pants for June, July and August.

I completely understand your desire to want to mix and match your wardrobe. It's really the only way to shop these days! Since you have some tops already, here are some ideas to update your look. Key pieces for me right now are little shrunken blazers and billowy cardigans. Since you were blessed with height you should try something a bit longer. Like a men's wear blazer. I literally throw a blazer on over everything from cocktail dresses to a T-shirt and jeans. If you already have a blazer and you want to purchase something new, may I suggest a leather jacket. Something thin and super soft in black of course! Look for a leather jacket that is simple, so you can wear it for the next twenty years! http://www.4sisters1closet.com/ has a great leather jacket by Blank NYC.
Now, on to the dresses. I love maxi dresses! I think they are always in for summer and tropical places like South Florida. For a wedding weekend in May, I think that would be a great look for during the day as well as a rehearsal dinner. A strapless or halter maxi is a nice way to show off your tan too!

Living up north, as we both do, we tend to forget about color. So keep your options open and try to incorporate some color into your looks. Any more questions feel free to ask. I hope this was helpful.

XOXO
Dana

Ray-Ban Fan

I am a big fan of sunglasses and a collector of many frames, but I must admit I fought the urge to jump on the Ray-Ban wagon. These shades, a big celeb fave, seemed to land on the faces of everyone all at once. Like leggings went from the legs of a select few fashionistas one day and on to the masses the next, Ray-Bans too had a similar affect. I do have a confession though... I was always a Ray-Ban fan, but I couldn't bare the thought of seeing my must have accessory in the hands of everyone else. You follow me?

Well problem solved. On a recent trip to my favorite sunglass shop in South Florida I was delighted to see the shades in a number of new colors and sizes. So delighted, I spent 2 hours picking out the perfect pair for each member of my fam for the holidays. Now these new styles are not for the fashion faint of heart. Some are shockingly bright, almost silly to say the least.

So, I do recognize that not everyone can or wants to rock a pair of neon yellow or blue shades thankfully there are other options. Try a camo green combo in a slightly larger frame. Still to wild? Opt for a dark blue pair. Very close to black but still a great way to transition into a more playful look. My personal pick? The two tone pair in purple and magenta. We were all sporting our shades on a recent vacay and I think we looked mighty fine.

Already own a pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers? Try a pair of their plastic aviator shades. These are sure to take a place in your sunglass rotation. Have to wear perscription frames? No problem! My local shop will order the lenses in your script. Now there is no excuse. Still not convinced... Check out the pics from 4Sisters1Closet's look book shoot. We featured multiple colors and frames!

Want to order a pair of your own? Contact Robin at Flamingo Falls Eye Care, Pembroke Pines, FL. Tell her Dana sent you.
